Agriculture

The Palmasola agricultural sector represents an important complement to the company’s income. With 2,500 ha of tillage, it is responsible for the production of 15 million tons of grains each year.

The prevailing crops are soy, corn, oat and wheat. According to Palmasola’s principle “producing with consciousness”, we have the following policies regarding the agricultural sector:

• Direct planting. Two decades ago we started with this technique that guarantees perennially to the tillage’s earth.
• Own production of supervised seeds.
• Protection of the water sources and rivers with native plants.
• Handling and using pest defensives within strict security rules both to man and environment.
• Appreciation of man, using adequate personal protection equipment to every activity.
• Rotation of crops, willing to replace natural nutrients and to reduce the need for pest defensivess.

Looking for the enlargement and the differentiation of its products, the agricultural sector has the following goals:

• Certification of the agricultural product aiming at new markets.
• Implantation of precision agriculture.
• Continuous search for the best productivity rates as a benchmark in Brazil and abroad.
• Expansion to northern Brazil. Today we have 500 ha in Sinop (MT) and 100 ha in Brasnorte (MT).

To reach our operational goals, Palmasola annually invests in new rural implements, such as harvesting machines, tractors, seeding machines and sprayers, that assure better productivity, costs reduction and good conditions for the workers.
