The maintenance of 48,000 ha of native forests is due to Palmasola directors’ conscience and preservation views. These forests are inhabited by diverse wild fauna, such as monkeys, pacas, armadillos, felines, parrots, toucans and others, which are protected and untouched.
Palmasola operates under the strict norms of sustainable handling to preservation. First, a ‘handling project’ is elaborated, in which the existing trees are listed. After the authorities approve this project, the low impact cut plan starts. At this stage, these items are checked:
. Area demarcation;
. Plaque maintenance according to original project;
. Conservation of permanent preservation areas;
. Maintenance of seed carrying trees, for recovery of the handled area;
. Orientating and training the employees to preserve fauna and flora species;
. Implanting preventive and corrective measures against fire and erosion;
. Attendance by the qualified authorities to all stages of the handling;
With these measures, Palmasola seeks distinction in the world of the new wood industry, and renewal of raw material sources. Preserving the ecosystem has led Palmasola to make partnerships to many universities. The idea is to disseminate environmental education and the need to ensure a healthy environment to next generations.
Palmasola S/A always operates in harmony with the environment. Its projects are mentioned in School Books as examples for the students, this is the case in the School Book below:
